WIMA: Werner Icking Music Archive

Hosted by Department of Computer Science - DAIMI, University of Aarhus

Tributes to Werner Icking          Tributes to Daniel Taupin
The Werner Icking Music Archive contains music-related stuff. Click on the name of a subdirectory containing scores, typesetting source files, additional README-files etc., or follow the composer links to enjoy the WWW-presentation of this music archive. The icon image points at images, the icon info at short information, and the icon PDF at a PDF-file. (To view a PDF file you must Download Acrobat Reader .)
This is the definitive archive of software related to MusiXTeX, a music typesetting system based on TeX. You must have TeX installed before you can use any of this. To learn about TeX, try a google search on "TeX" and "Getting started" to see what's required. Otherwise, to proceed to the MusiXTeX software archive, choose between the software page (with descriptions and links), and file directory, which has all the linked files and some older files not linked from the software page.

Google Search WIMA

If you are not looking for a specific composer you can search the Werner Icking archive with Google. Type the instruments, musical forms or other words you want into this field:
If you obtain too many results, move back to this form, and put a "-" sign in front of the words you don't want. Example: violin piano sonata -viola -cello
Warning: Commercial web sites image are currently abusing the name of the Werner Icking Music Archive. The Werner Icking Archive has no affiliation with these sites and has not consented to them.

Renewal of the WIMA site

A project on renewing WIMA is ongoing. New features will include facilities for searching scores and editorial tools for registering and updating scores, see technical details on the project. Additional project participants are welcome!

Contributing to the archive

If you want to contribute to the archive then please use WIMA's ftp service, ftp.daimi.au.dk for uploading your files. Enter anonymous as username and your email address as password. Select wima as the folder for uploading your files. Don't forget to send an email about your contribution to Christian Mondrup mail.

You'll need an ftp client for uploading files to ftp.daimi.au.dk. For Windows users I reccomend the freeware ftp client FileZilla. WIMA offers a FileZilla v. 2.2.32 installation file. For Macintosh users I recommend the freeware ftp client Cyberduck. WIMA offers a Cyberduck v. 2.1beta1 installation file. FireFox browser users may consider installing the FireFtp add-on and use that as ftp client.

Please consider packing multiple files into a zip archive before upload. For Windows users I reccomend the freeware zipper software QuickZip. WIMA offers a QuickZip v. 4.60.010 installation file for installation on your pc.

As WIMA editor I'm grateful for the thousands of scores provided by numerous contributors. However, since the amount of incoming scores has been ever increasing I need to introduce a somewhat restrictive upload policy:

PDF is the publishing format of the sheet music archive, see the PDF instructions for users of TeX based tools like MusiXTeX, PMX, M-Tx etc. and for users of graphical sheet music editors like Finale, Sibelius, NoteWorthy Composer etc.
