Sylvia Hazlerig began composing at the age of thirteen. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition and Theory from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Arts in Music from Central Missouri State University. After a long career teaching at Laredo Community College in Laredo, Texas, she retired to the mountains of Colorado, where she remains active as a performing musician and composer. She has composed over 65 works, mostly chamber music for strings, piano solos, and songs. In addition she wrote the music for two musical theater productions. Her Trio for recorders was published by BMI, Canada, in 1964. The Ten Little Duets for Alto and Tenor Recorders were composed in l965.
